Take your dictionary with you

Settings → Backup writes your settings and your personal dictionary to a file you choose, and reads one back on another Mac.

Importing only adds

Nothing already on this Mac is removed by an import, and importing the same file twice does not duplicate anything. That makes the file safe to hand to a second Mac that is already set up, rather than only useful on a fresh one.

What is deliberately not in the file

Your transcripts. They stay on the Mac that made them, which is the point of this product. The file carries the vocabulary you built up — the part that is painful to lose and impossible to reconstruct.

Machine-specific things are left out too: a microphone that only exists on the old Mac should not follow you to the new one.

Questions about this

Is this a sync service?

No. It is a file you write and move yourself. Nothing is uploaded.

Does it carry my licence?

No. Activation is per Mac — see Accounts and devices.

Can I import into a Mac that is already configured?

Yes. Import adds and never removes.
