The same voice, the register of the room

You do not talk to a terminal the way you talk to a customer. Voicecape sees which app has focus and applies the treatment you filed that app under.

Four kinds of destination

Code, terminal, chat and writing. In a terminal, spoken punctuation and path fragments should survive intact; in an email, a sentence should end up as a sentence. Filing an app once is the whole configuration.

Any app, not a list of sixteen

Until version 1.3.1 only sixteen apps could be classified and everything else was treated as unknown — which quietly meant the most cautious clean-up with no way to say otherwise. Now, after you dictate somewhere, that app appears at the top of Tone per app and you file it yourself.

This matters more than it sounds: "unknown" is not a neutral default, it is a decision made on your behalf, and before 1.3.1 you could not see it being made.

Questions about this

Where do I set this?

Settings → Tone per app. Apps you have dictated into appear at the top of the list.

What happens in an app I have not filed?

It is treated as unknown and gets the most cautious treatment. Filing it takes one click.

Can the mode differ too?

Yes — Exact Clean and Verbatim are part of what a per-app setting decides.
